Maths 1

This term for maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D geometry. Kane and I were in a team. We went on a Geometry Safari around the school grounds to see how many 2D and 3D shapes we could find. Then we had to write what we had found into a table. You can see ours below.

Maths Book

For maths this week we read a book called one is a snail and 10 is a crab . We then worked in groups to crate our own version. My book is called 1 is a fish, 10 s a caterpillar. Here is my book. I hope you like it.

Maths

For maths we have been working in mixed ability groups to solve problems. The focus has been solving word problems using place value. We have to select the correct the correct strategy to solve the problem. I have chosen two problems to show you how I work them out.

I find change unknown problems easy to work out.

We have been learning to tell the time to the hour and half hour using analogue clocks

Here is a maths strategy that I am good at.  It is making ten.  I will show you what I have done.

Maths Basic Facts

Today I passed my Maths Basic Facts Stage 2-3.  I feel very happy. I found them easy. Now I need to work on the next level.

Ruling a Line

For maths we have been learning about measurement . So l have created a DLO ( digital learning object). I created one to explain ruling a line. 

Fractions

We are learning about fractions.  They are cut into equal parts.The top number is the numerator and the bottom number is the denominator.

Paper Spinners

We made paper spinners for maths. We had to use our fraction and shape knowledge to help us fold our spinner. We decorated our spinner with patterns and colours. We battled our spinners with a friend. My spinner worked well.
